The Namesake is a 2003 American-Irish drama film directed by Roland Joffé. The film, written by Rajiv Joseph, is about an autobiographical account of an Indian-American family called Patel who live in the United States. The film stars Kal Penn, Irrfan Khan and Tabu.This movie tells the story of how different cultures clash when one person's name change causes immense confusion to many people, including his own dysfunctional family. With his parents arriving at their new home near Chicago with him but without their husband and father Ajay brought over from India, there are some tense moments as they must integrate into this new culture while trying to find their way back home to India after years of living in America.
